Goldeneyes’ Cara Gardner Morey to Transition From GM to Head Coach

On Thursday, Vancouver Goldeneyes general manager Cara Gardner Morey transitioned to head coach, leaving her front-office role after the Professional Women's Hockey League club's inaugural season.
Gardner Morey replaces Brian Idalski, who was fired after Vancouver finished sixth in the eight-team league with a 9-3-4-14 record and won just 12 of their 30 games.
This role is familiar for the 47-year-old, who spent eight seasons coaching the Princeton Tigers and helped the team win an Ivy League championship and set a single-season record for 26 wins.
With Gardner Morey vacating the general manager's chair, the Goldeneyes are now searching for her replacement; PWHL executive vice president of hockey operations Jayna Hefford stated the league will lead the search.
"Coaching is where I know I can make the biggest impact," Morey said, expressing excitement to return to the bench and coach the roster she assembled during her inaugural season.
