- On Tuesday, Ravi Naik, Goa's Agriculture Minister and former Chief Minister, died after a sudden cardiac arrest at his hometown and was declared dead around 1 a.m. at a private hospital in Ponda.
- A veteran politician, Ravi Naik served twice as Chief Minister, from January 1991 to May 1993 and for six days from April 2 to 8 in 1994, and was a seven-time MLA from Ponda and Marcaim.
- Naik held portfolios including Agriculture, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and served as a Member of Parliament from North Goa in 1998, leaving behind his wife, two children, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren.
