GM Recalls Cadillac Vistiq Electric SUV Over Third-Row Seats Issue
GM said six complaints were linked to the defect and owners will get free repairs before replacement parts arrive.
General Motors recalled 14,540 Cadillac Vistiq SUVs covering 2026 and 2027 model years because power-folding third-row seats may fail to reverse when encountering an occupant, potentially trapping passengers.
An internal Speak Up For Safety report triggered the investigation on March 31 after GM cited a "different vehicle manufacturer," likely Hyundai, which issued a similar recall following a fatal incident involving a two-year-old.
Testing showed seatbacks continued folding with 33- and 40-pound boxes on the seat, preventing removal without manual intervention. GM is aware of six other complaints, though none resulted in injury.
Dealers are disabling the power-folding feature on affected vehicles until replacement modules arrive. Interim owner notification letters will be mailed beginning August 3, 2026, with customers able to contact Cadillac at 800-333-4223.
Similar power-folding seat defects across the automotive industry may trigger additional recalls in coming months, potentially spurring new safety regulations or enhanced sensing technologies to prevent future injuries.
