Huawei Becomes China’s Top Smartphone Seller for the First Time in 4 Years: IDC
CHINA, JUL 15 – Samsung's AI-enabled Galaxy A series drove a 7.9% shipment increase to 58 million units, helping it maintain a 19.7% global market share amid a 1% overall market growth, IDC reported.
- On Monday, IDC reported shipments rose 1.0% year-on-year to 295.2 million units in Q2 2025.
- In China, IDC reports smartphone sales shrank 4% to 69 million units amid macro headwinds and subsidy cuts.
- Among top brands, Samsung Electronics shipped 58 million units, up 7.9%, while Apple reached 46.4 million and Xiaomi held at 42.5 million.
- Q2 2025 marked the eighth straight quarter of growth since 2013, and `the market is poised to return to growth,` said Anthony Scarsella.
- Looking ahead, IDC expects a gradual recovery through the remainder of 2025, while OEMs focus on AI integration, channel efficiency and localized promotions.
