DHL will suspend the shipment of standard parcels for businesses to the United States, in line with similar moves by European peers deterred by looming US customs duties for low-value packages after “de minimis” changes.
This choice comes after the signature of a decree by Donald Trump abolishing the exemption from parcel taxes of a value of less than 800 euros. The Post Office specifies that shipments with Chronopost will always work.
In a press release issued on Friday, August 22, La Poste announced that it would suspend parcels to the United States for a few days. What is at stake is the change in tariffs for packages valued at $800 or less, which will now be subject to taxes.
The German group indicates that only individual orders can be sent to the United States which can be declared as “present” and whose content has a value of up to $100.
