A girl is dead after falling off her bicycle into the path of an oncoming dump truck Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A girl riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a dump truck in Ellicott City, police said. According to Howard County police, officers were called around 1:55 p.m. Tuesday to the 2000 block of Daniels Road in a wooded area near the Patapsco River. Police said the girl fell off the bicycle and was fatally struck by an oncoming dump truck. The truck’s driver remained at the scene. An investigation continues.
