Jaguars Are Acquiring Guard Daniel Faalele From the Giants for a Draft Pick, AP Source Says
The deal gives Jacksonville a Day 3 2027 pick and adds offensive line depth after Patrick Mekari’s back surgery, sources said.
The New York Giants traded offensive lineman Daniel Faalele to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday for an undisclosed late-round 2027 draft pick, ending his brief tenure with the team.
Jacksonville sought offensive line depth after starting right guard Patrick Mekari underwent back surgery recently, leaving the team dealing with a rash of injuries on the interior line.
Signed in April, Faalele struggled during the preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings, where he was demolished on a pass protection play that led to a sack of starting quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Faalele spent four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, where Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe criticized him harshly, saying he was "as big as he is sorry" on film.
The Jaguars will host the Carolina Panthers on Friday in a preseason meeting, providing the team an opportunity to test their reshuffled offensive line before the regular season begins.
