One research group compared changes in life satisfaction after transitions.

When more than 50-year-olds enter into a new partnership and move together, their life satisfaction increases significantly. On average, a later marriage is not associated with more well-being for couples already living together, reports Vienna psychologists in the "International Journal of Behavioral Development". They have evaluated long-term data of around 3,000 people aged between 50 and 95 years from a US study.
