The debate concerns whether the planned military service should be based solely on voluntary enlistment or whether it will also include elements of compulsion.


The Federal President is now also commenting on the dispute over compulsory military service. He is sceptical about the lot-trial brought into play by the coalitionists. This is all the more true for student representatives.
The SPD and the Minister of Defence have halted a compromise aimed at drawing lots of those summoned to the aptitude tests.
