A German mountain hiker crashed in the Kitzbüheler Alpen in Tyrol on Thursday and died. According to the police, the 69-year-old, who was traveling with eight other hikers, slipped off at an altitude of 2,145 meters on the descent from the Großer Rettenstein and fell over a grassy slope about 100 meters into a gravel channel. Reanimation attempts by his companions and later the crew of the emergency helicopter remained unsuccessful.
