China's exports to the European Union increased by 16% in July, while imports from the Community bloc fell by 1.4%. Figures come at a time when the trade relationship between Brussels and Beijing is already strained by subsidy disputes.
This fall, the EU is expected to present new countermeasures against China's growing export dominance. But experts are deeply critical of Brussels's failure to be slowed down by Beijing, warning that it could have serious consequences for European industry. "The EU is caught in a quandary," says China expert Alicia García Herrero.
