The future of the Sziget Festival remains uncertain after the Budapest General Assembly failed to reach a decision on the event’s public-space agreement on Wednesday. According to Tisza, the future of Sziget is in danger because of the mayor, according to Karácsony, Tisza and Fidesz are causing concrete damage to Budapest. According to Krisztina Baranyi, Tisza has wiped out Sziget.
Although it seemed like the Sziget festival was over yesterday, it became clear on Thursday afternoon that a solution would be found to allow the music festival to be held next year. Mayor Gergely Karácsony reported on his social media page that essentially all obstacles to organizing the festival had been removed.
