The Mayor's Office has confirmed that from September 1, new commitments can only be undertaken with the mayor's permission, and a staff freeze is in effect until revoked. Gergely Karácsony's decision is explained by the financial situation of the capital, as a loan of 110 billion forints would have to be repaid in the coming weeks, while the payment of salaries to the capital's employees is also relevant.
