Georgia Democrats block GOP plan to cut property taxes again
Democrats said the tax swap would raise everyday costs and help only the local share of bills, while House leaders set up another vote Monday.

- The House rejected the measure on a 95-67 vote Saturday, though Rep. Chas Cannon, R-Moultrie, called it a "great opportunity" for bipartisan agreement to solve a pressing issue for Georgians.
- Lawmakers will consider the bills again Monday, continuing the special session that previously saw a unanimous 161-0 vote to approve a two-week extension of the state's fuel tax moratorium.
