A chronic, inflammatory systemic disease, endometriosis is typically responsible for debilitating pain, exacerbated by menstruation. However, in rare cases, it can be asymptomatic. Dr. Adrien Crestani, gynecological surgeon at IFEMEndo in Bordeaux, explains.
Although endometriosis affects about one in ten women and is accompanied by severe pain, awareness of it is low and the path to diagnosis is often long. Why this is the case, which treatment options exist and what the chronic disease means for fertility, explains gynecologist Andreas Widschwendter in the "Good to know" podcast.
