Fuel, oil, and spare-parts shortages caused by ongoing Israeli blockade threaten critical hospital departments
During a press conference today Wednesday, the Director of the Health Information Centre of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Zahir Al-Fahidi, said that health facilities had become isolated structures that were dying very slowly, as a result of the continued blockade and the denial of basic operating facilities, considering that the situation had gone beyond the limits of the humanitarian crisis to what he described as "a complete health eradication."
The Gaza Ministry of Health announced that more than 70% of the electricity generators in hospitals are out of service due to shortages of fuel, oil, and spare parts caused by the Israeli blockade. Officials stated that the health system is paralyzed and critical departments are at risk of closing at any moment, appealing to the international community for urgent medical and logistical supplies.
The director of the Information Center of the Ministry of Health, Zahir al-Wahidi, said that the collapse and targeting of the health system in Gaza under Israeli attacks is a planned and systematic crime at the level of “genocide” Zahir al-Wahidi: “Hospitals are in serious shortage of fuel, oil and spare parts necessary to operate the main electrical generators. Critical and vital departments run the risk of not being able to serve at any time.”
