Genentech Announces Manufacturing Expansion in Hillsboro, Oregon
The project will add end-to-end device filling capacity and is expected to create 250 manufacturing jobs and about 200 construction jobs, the company said.
On Thursday, Genentech announced plans to invest approximately $750 million in a new device fill-finish manufacturing facility at its 75-acre campus in Hillsboro, Oregon.
This expansion supports the company's efforts to increase domestic manufacturing options, following the recent construction of a $2 billion facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina.
The new plant will feature flexible filling capabilities for pre-filled syringes and autoinjectors, creating 250 high-wage manufacturing jobs and approximately 200 construction jobs.
Governor Tina Kotek announced a forgivable loan from the Strategic Reserve Fund to help offset capital costs, stating the investment marks progress in her "prosperity roadmap."
Commercial operations at the new facility are expected to begin in 2031, positioning Oregon to strengthen its life sciences sector, which generated $21.2 billion in economic impact during 2023.
