Saxony adheres to the prohibition of gender signs in school education – as recommended by the spelling council. Unfortunately, so far only a few ministries of culture follow this example.
The Council for German Spelling rejects the inclusion of Gendersternchen & Co. in the regulations. Use in texts has been considered a mistake at Saxony's schools for one year. A new regulation cements this now.
The new Minister of Culture also prohibits the use of gender stars or internal I in Saxony's schools. Those who use the special characters in school work will continue to receive a point deduction.
