Gaza experts work to identify bodies of 90 Palestinians returned by Israel
Ninety Palestinian bodies were returned by Israel under a ceasefire, with experts facing challenges identifying them due to limited information on body bags, officials said.
- Last week, Gaza's Ministry of Health received the remains of 45 Palestinians transferred from Israel to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, totaling 90 as part of a US-brokered ceasefire.
- The arrangement stems from the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack that killed about 1,200 people and saw 251 taken hostage, and under last week's ceasefire, Israel agreed to hand over 15 Palestinian bodies per deceased Israeli hostage.
