Man, 40s, Dies Following Crash in Co Clare
Gardaí said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and asked witnesses and dashcam owners to help with the investigation.
A man in his 40s died in a single-vehicle crash on the R462 in Ballymorris, Cratloe, Clare on Wednesday morning shortly after 7am. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators closed the R462 for a technical examination of the crash site. Local diversions remain in place while the investigation into the single-vehicle collision continues.
Witnesses with dashcam or mobile phone footage are urged to contact Shannon Garda Station at 365900 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111. Information is sought from anyone who traveled the route between 6:30am and 7:10am.
The man's body was removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination. The Coroner has been notified, and formal identification by Garda is pending.
Figures from Garda indicate 108 people have been killed on Irish roads so far this year, 13 higher than the same period in 2025. Last year saw the highest number of deaths on Irish roads in a decade.
