Prithvi Shaw’s First Maharashtra Assignment to Be Buchi Babu Tournament
Prithvi Shaw makes a comeback for Maharashtra after switching from Mumbai, with Ruturaj Gaikwad returning from injury; both expected to play only the opening match, officials said.
- Ahead of the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, the MCA announced its squad on 14 August 2025, including Shaw and Gaikwad for matches in Chennai from August 18 to September 9.
- After being dropped over fitness and discipline concerns, Shaw obtained a No Objection Certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Association to switch to Maharashtra earlier this year.
- With the zonal tournament starting August 28, Gaikwad and Saurabh Nawale will leave after one game to join West Zone’s Duleep Trophy semi-final on September 4.
- Prithvi Shaw's first appearance since December 2024, and Ruturaj Gaikwad returns after an elbow injury from IPL 2025, seeking to impress at the tournament.
- Maharashtra will face Chhattisgarh in their Round 1 match from August 18 to 20 at Gurunanak College Ground, with semifinals scheduled August 31 to September 3 if they top Group A.
