Gadkari inaugurates barrier less Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza on UER-II
On Monday, Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II in New Delhi, featuring Multi-Lane Free Flow barrier-less tolling technology.
The Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza marks the second Multi-Lane Free Flow system in India, following the May 1 inauguration of the Choryasi Toll Plaza on the Surat-Bharuch section of NH-48 in Gujarat.
Employing Automatic Number Plate Recognition and FASTag, the system processes vehicles without requiring stops, aiming to reduce queues, travel delays, and fuel consumption for commuters.
Seventeen fee plazas across nine states—Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Assam—are included in the State-owned National Highway Authority of India's national rollout targeting September 2026 completion.
Beyond the initial rollout, an additional 108+ plazas under the State-owned National Highway Authority of India are scheduled for implementation by March 2027, expanding barrier-less tolling infrastructure nationwide.
