Fury as Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe describes Dunblane tragedy as 'one murder'
The comment drew condemnation after Lowe reduced the Dunblane school massacre to a single killing during a podcast discussion of gun laws.
On the Joe Rogan Experience podcast released Wednesday, Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe sparked outrage by dismissing the 1996 Dunblane massacre as "one murder."
The 1996 Dunblane Primary School shooting remains the deadliest mass shooting in UK history, when gunman Thomas Hamilton murdered 16 children aged five and six and their teacher, Gwen Mayor.
Scottish Conservative MSP Stephen Kerr condemned the remarks as "astonishingly insensitive," while Clackmannanshire and Dunblane SNP MSP Keith Brown called Lowe "a stain on our politics."
Following the massacre, the Snowdrop Petition gathered more than 750,000 signatures, driving the Cullen Inquiry and 1997 legislation by the Conservative government banning higher-calibre handguns.
Currently on a US tour, Lowe is scheduled to meet Elon Musk on Sunday, continuing efforts for Restore Britain, which he founded after leaving Reform UK last year.
