‘Fully clothed’ Arkells play Vancouver strip club 18 years after 1st date there
The Canadian pop-rock band played all of Between Us before a set of hits in a small-venue show that launched a three-night Vancouver run.
- On Thursday, Arkells performed for 250 fans at The Penthouse in Vancouver, launching their 'city takeover' tour celebrating their new Between Us album.
- The Vancouver residency spans three nights, with additional performances scheduled at Kitsilano's Hollywood Theatre on Friday and the Commodore Ballroom on Saturday.
- Singer Max Kerman told 250 fans the band played its first Vancouver show 18 years ago at a Seymour Street club, performing only 12 minutes for eight people after arriving late.
- The first half showcased all Between Us tracks, followed by hits including People's Champ and Leather Jacket. Kerman and bandmates delivered high-energy performances without extra musicians on the tiny stage.
- Beyond Vancouver, the quintet continues its city takeover tour with three dates each in Edmonton and Calgary from May 14 to 21. Arkells will headline FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver at the PNE on July 7.
