Town to Benefit From Better Internet Connection
- On July 1, 2025, Openreach expanded its full-fibre broadband network by incorporating 21 new areas across both rural and urban regions in the UK.
- This expansion is part of Openreach's initiative to deliver full fibre broadband to as many as five million additional homes and businesses by March 2026, aiming to improve digital connectivity.
- Openreach has reached over seven million homes and businesses so far, including more than four million last year, while delivering fibre to 85,000 new premises weekly.
- Chief Executive Clive Selley called this a UK infrastructure success story and urged pushing hard on the accelerator pedal to address connectivity gaps, especially for flats blocked by red tape.
- The rollout is expected to support economic growth and job creation, but about one million premises in multi-dwelling units risk missing faster broadband unless legal access issues are resolved.
