By Jordan Valinsky, CNN The US federal government and seven states are suing Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation Entertainment, for failing to curb ticket scalpers, which force customers to “pay substantially more than face value” for popular concerts and events.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and seven U.S. states filed a lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster for tacitly coordinating with resellers and allowing a business involving millions of dollars in tickets in the primary market. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, with the support of Attorneys General of Virginia, Utah, Florida, Tennessee, Nebraska, Illinois and Colorado.
