Punjab Police Bust Cross-Border Drug and Arms Smuggling Module with Pakistan Links; 3 Held, Weapons, Heroin Seized - The Statesman
- On July 3, 2025, Punjab Police intercepted and apprehended three suspected members of a Pakistan-linked network involved in smuggling drugs and weapons near Railway Road in Tarn Taran.
- The Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar acted on targeted information regarding the movement of illegal arms and drug shipments close to the Indo-Pak border in Ferozepur and Tarn Taran districts, leading the effort to dismantle this smuggling operation.
- Authorities seized a total of eight advanced firearms, consisting of three 9mm Glock handguns, three Chinese-made.30 caliber pistols, and two.30 caliber PX-5 pistols. In addition, one kilogram of heroin, cash amounting to Rs 2.90 lakh, a currency-counting machine, and a motorcycle used for transportation were confiscated.
- The three arrested suspects—Sarabjit Singh from Saanke, Kulwinder Singh from Langiana, and Ashmandeep Singh from Railway Road Tarn Taran—were reportedly working under a smuggler based in Pakistan named Sikandar Noor, who employed drones to deliver shipments across the border.
- Director General Gaurav Yadav stated investigations continue to establish network links and apprehend other members, underscoring Punjab Police's commitment to dismantling the narcotics and arms nexus for a safer state.
