From Stolen Devices to Long Queues, Day 1 of India’s AI Summit Was ‘Pure Chaos’ — How Day 2 Fared
- On Tuesday, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge alleged chaos and mismanagement at the India AI Impact Summit, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, calling it a global embarrassment and saying it could have showcased India's AI capabilities.
- Kharge said the 'PR hungry' government allegedly 'gatecrashed' the first day for a 'photo opportunity', causing chaos at the summit.
- Exhibitors reported concrete failures on the ground, including denial of food and water, eviction from paid stalls, thefts, Digi Yatra failing, bans on laptops and cameras, and cash-only stalls.
- Kharge warned the summit failed its showcase purpose, saying `It is extremely unfortunate that our country has to suffer this global embarrassment due to the incompetence of our own government` and tarnished India's image in the AI sector.
- The summit's finale on February 19 and 20 will see more than 20 heads of state, including Emmanuel Macron and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as Kharge urged lessons from similar events.
