Illegal migrants entered the country.
This was the second time this year that migrants tried to cut a tunnel from Belarus to Lithuania; earlier, on 6 April, the tunnel was discovered in Vilnius district.
Lithuanian border guards detained 18 migrants who crawled into Lithuania from the Belarusian side through an underground passage dug towards the Aran district.
Kabelė border guards detained 18 illegal migrants who crawled into Lithuania near the Varėna district from the Belarusian side through a cave. All of these men, who presented themselves as citizens of Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, were later turned back to Belarus by the VSAT officers. Kabelė border guards also detained two Ukrainian citizens, suspected of having arrived to pick up 7 immigrants who had entered Lithuania illegally.
