Sarajevo Film Festival to Honour Mexican Actor Diego Luna, Iran’s Filmmaker Farhadi
Diego Luna will receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo for his career and the festival will screen his latest film, Ashes.
- On Monday, the Sarajevo Film Festival announced it will honor Mexican actor, director, and producer Diego Luna at its 32nd edition, which kicks off August 14.
- Festival Director Jovan Marjanovic stated the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo recognizes Luna's "outstanding career and indelible contribution to cinema," recalling his breakout 2001 performance in Y Tu Mama Tambien.
- Luna will present "Ashes," his latest directorial feature that premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival, while also conducting a masterclass for emerging filmmakers and festival audiences.
- Beyond his acting work, Luna co-founded Ambulante in 2005, a traveling documentary film festival that fosters cultural exchange and reflects his commitment to social impact initiatives.
- The SFF will also honor Iranian Oscar-winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, with the festival opening August 14 featuring "Fatherland," the final film in Pawel Pawlikowski's Cold War trilogy.
