French Open Champ Andreeva Sails Into Wimbledon Second Round
French Open champion Mirra Andreeva won her first-round match at Wimbledon 7-5, 6-4 against Magda Linette and advanced to the second round.
Andreeva, seeded fifth at Wimbledon, is set to face Barbora Krejcikova, the 2024 Wimbledon champion, in the last 64 round.
The 19-year-old Andreeva made her best Wimbledon run last year by reaching the quarter-finals in her third appearance at the tournament.
Coached by former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez, Andreeva became the youngest woman to win the French Open since Monica Seles in 1992 after winning her maiden Grand Slam title.
Fresh French Open champion Mirra Andrejeva also made a successful start at Wimbledon, defeating Magda Linette (WTA 59th) 7:5, 6:4 in the opening round of the women's singles.
