French banker Pigasse emerges as key figure in Venezuela debt overhaul
Veteran French banker Matthieu Pigasse has emerged as a central figure in Venezuela’s debt restructuring efforts after his firm Centerview Partners was appointed adviser on the country’s more than $150 billion debt overhaul without a formal competitive process.
The French businessman reportedly won a juicy contract after several months of negotiations, thanks to his connections with the American president's entourage and the Venezuelan regime.
With the restructuring of Venezuela's 150 billion-dollar debt, business banker Matthieu Pigasse would become the main player in the economic recovery of a country that has become financial "paria", reports The Wall Street Journal.
