The publishing of textbooks by the Île-de-France region has been declared illegal. It considers that this activity infringes the freedom of trade.
The Court ordered the Île-de-France region to put an end, by the end of September, to its activity as editor of textbooks through the monopoly granted in this field to the Pearltrees platform.
The region will have to withdraw its "territorial" textbooks from the Pearltrees platform by September 30, 2026. A decision welcomed by the Association of Educational Publishers, while the community has announced its intention to appeal.
