EDITORIAL. The report by the parliamentary committee on violence by adults against children in schools breaks a long and terrible silence. The time has now come for solutions and increased vigilance, particularly in the case of private schools.
While the report released on 2 July on the prevention of violence in schools recommends "a systematic lifting of confessional secrecy in cases of sexual abuse of minors", Father Bruno Gonçalves, professor of canon law and promoter of justice at the national canonical criminal court, explains that a law aimed at the secrecy of confession would be unconstitutional.
