Former minister Franc Weerwind (D66) will become interim mayor of Terneuzen. He was appointed at Terneuzen City Hall by King's Commissioner Hugo de Jonge. Weerwind succeeds Erik van Merrienboer (PvdA), who announced his resignation at the end of November because the aldermen, on the advice of the municipal council, refused to grant a permit for the construction of an asylum seekers' center.
