Fourteen People in Shanghai Were Tricked Into Working a Fake Job at a Subway Station and Have Gone without Pay for Months

A recent "fake job" scam occurred in Shanghai. Eleven retired elderly people and three young people in Fengxian District believed a man's lies, thinking he could arrange jobs at a subway station. They "worked" as instructed for several months, but instead of receiving the promised wages, they gave the man cigarettes, alcohol, gift certificates, and cash. The suspect, surnamed Qian, was sentenced for fraud.
