Four Terrorists Killed as Security Forces Foil Attack on South Waziristan Check Post: ISPR
Security forces destroyed an explosive-laden vehicle and killed four militants after a suicide attack attempt failed to damage the post, ISPR said.
- On Saturday, security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's South Waziristan district thwarted a suicide attack, killing four terrorists after destroying an "explosive-laden vehicle intended for a suicide attack," the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
- The operation followed a deadly attack late Thursday in Tank district, where terrorists belonging to the "Indian-sponsored Fitna al Khwarij" killed at least 15 security personnel and a government official.
- Troops engaged the remaining attackers, forcing three into a nearby compound where they were neutralized in a deliberate clearance operation "without any casualties on the security forces' side," the ISPR said.
- President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the forces, stating the military "foiled the nefarious designs of terrorists through timely and decisive action" in the operation.
- Authorities vowed that the "relentless counter-terrorism campaign under vision 'Azm-i-Istehkam'" will continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan, as security forces maintain operations against militant groups.
