Civilian, Three IDF Soldiers Indicted for Spying for Iran Prior to Enlistment
Prosecutors say the four carried out dozens of tasks, including photographing sensitive sites and testing operational missions, in exchange for cryptocurrency and shekels.
On Friday, Haifa District Court charged four suspects—three IDF soldiers and one civilian—with maintaining contact with Iranian agents and carrying out security-related tasks during the war.
The defendants communicated via Telegram from January to March 2025 with handlers using the usernames "NOVITAMIN" and "CLARK," documenting and transferring footage of civilian and security sites across Israel.
One suspect allegedly offered to photograph F-16 jets at the Israeli Air Force technical school for about $5,100; agents rejected this and instead requested Iron Dome system locations for about $1,700 each.
The Shin Bet, Israel Police, and Lahav 433 conducted a joint operation in March leading to the arrests, with charges including aiding the enemy and soliciting national security offenses.
Security bodies warned this case reflects repeated efforts by hostile elements to recruit Israeli citizens, urging the public to report suspicious approaches from unidentified parties seeking task performance.
