- On Saturday, an inmate at MCF-Rush City assaulted four correctional officers around 3:20 p.m., prompting a lockdown of the facility.
- During routine cell searches around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, staff encountered an inmate serving a life sentence for first-degree murder suspected of hooch possession.
- One correctional officer sustained a puncture wound that is non-life-threatening, and three other officers were also injured.
- The inmate was transferred to MCF-Oak Park Heights, and the DOC’s Office of Special Investigations will recommend felony assault charges to the Chisago County Attorney’s Office.
- This marks the first reported attack on a Minnesota prison correctional officer in nearly 15 months, at a facility housing more than 950 offenders, including over 450 serving homicide sentences.
