Fossil found north of Fort McMurray latest discovery for the Royal Tyrrell Museum

Routine yard work at the Syncrude Mildred Lake site has led to the discovery of a fossil that is believed to be at least 100 million years old. Paleontologists have identified the fossil as a coiled marine animal called an ammonite, an extinct coiled marine animal that died around the same time as the dinosaurs.
