Disney+ Becomes New Global Broadcaster for Formula E
The pact keeps local TV deals in place while giving Disney+ subscribers access to every Formula E race as the series enters its GEN4 era.
On Tuesday, Disney announced a multi-year deal to stream ABB FIA Formula E World Championship races globally across 144 territories on Disney+, with races also available on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds noted Disney's global reach will "introduce Formula E to millions of new fans," as the partnership fulfills Disney's strategy to keep streaming subscribers engaged with live sports programming.
Launching later this year, the 2026-27 season introduces the GEN4 electric vehicle, which the league describes as "the debut of the fastest and most technologically advanced electric racing car ever built," beginning December 18 in Jeddah.
Beyond live coverage, the deal includes creation of preview and review shows, race highlights, and in-depth analysis across the 21-race calendar spanning 13 locations on Disney+ and ESPN+.
Rising engagement metrics show Formula E now boasts one of motorsport's most dedicated fanbases, with 58% of fans categorized as "highly engaged," representing 9% growth from the previous season.
