Volusia County deputies say the former co-owner of an Orange City karate studio is being charged with unlawful sexual activity with a teenage student.

The former co-owner of a karate study in Orange City was arrested on charges of illicit sexual activity with a study student under 17 years of age. Jason Mummaw, 55, was arrested Thursday afternoon at his Deltona home and admitted to Volusia County Prison without bail. Crimes began in 2022 at the study and residence of Mummaw. Incidents were initially reported to the DeLand and Orange City police in December 2023.
