Former Institute of Peace Leader to direct Bucknell's new 'Dialogue & Democracy' initiative
Bucknell University has appointed Lauren Baillie as the first director of the Bucknell Initiative for Dialogue & Democracy, a new program aimed at preparing students for positive citizenship amid increasing polarization.
Lauren Baillie previously worked at the United States Institute of Peace, where she focused on dialogue and justice to support democratic participation in volatile regions.
University President John Bravman stated that Baillie will help students develop skills for respectful, cross-perspective dialogue.
The initiative was funded by a $2 million gift from Catherine Kolb Stroup and her husband, along with support from Bucknell's Board of Trustees.
