Former Hut 8 CEO Jaime Leverton to Lead Zcash Miner Fortitude Ahead of Nasdaq Debut
Leverton will lead the Zcash-focused miner as it targets a $400 million implied valuation and a fourth-quarter Nasdaq debut, company estimates show.
- Fortitude Mining Holdings appointed former Hut 8 CEO Jaime Leverton as chief executive effective September 21, succeeding Current CEO Andrea Childs, who transitions to chief operating officer as the Zcash-focused miner prepares for a public listing via combination with HeartSciences.
- Digital Currency Group spun out Fortitude from its Foundry business in January 2025 to operate as a "venture mining" platform allocating capital across proof-of-work networks while maintaining primary focus on Zcash.
- The miner operates more than 60 megawatts of power capacity across seven sites in South Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, and New York. Fortitude reported second-quarter revenue of $20.9 million and mined 72,696 ZEC during the first six months of 2026.
- Fortitude's leadership transition occurs as ZEC tokens have surged more than 2,000% over the past year. Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang disclosed Wednesday the investment firm holds ZEC, describing it as a "private complement to Bitcoin."
- The combined company, expected to trade on Nasdaq under ticker TUDE, has an implied valuation of at least $400 million according to company estimates. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter, subject to shareholder approval.
