A former Edinburg councilman has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for bribery. Jorge Salinas pleaded guilty to bribery involving federal programs last August. Investigators say Salinas accepted money in exchange for making favorable votes on a contract for an Edinburg business owner. Salinas was ordered to surrender to U.S. Marshals by March 6th to begin serving his sentence.
