Taipei, July 9 (CNA) The Taiwan High Court on Thursday sentenced Huang Chu-jung (黃取榮), a former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) staffer, to 10 years in prison for developing an organization on behalf of China after recruiting two people to help gather classified information.
Former Presidential Office advisor Wu Shang-yu, former DPP staff members Chiu Shih-yuan and Huang Chi-jung, and former National Security Council Secretary-General Wu Chao-hsieh's former assistant Ho Jen-chieh are among those implicated in a spy case. Last year, the Taiwan High Prosecutors Office indicted him for violating the National Security Act by developing an organization. Today, the Taiwan High Court delivered its verdict, finding the evidence of guilt clear, but convicting him of attempted framing of one of the acts. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and can appeal.
