Former Cambria County Nurse Pleads Guilty To Smuggling Charges
Former Cambria County Prison nurse Asiah Young-Atwell, and facilitator Monique Valencia, have pled guilty in federal court to a racketeering conspiracy involving the smuggling of contraband, including THC pens and phones, into the facility between July and December 2023. The duo, part of a 10-person indictment, accepted bribes for the illegal operations, and now face up to 20 years in prison at their scheduled sentencing on Oct. 29th.
