Phuket Doctor’s Swiss Attacker Gets Jail
- On May 23, 2025, the Court of Appeal Region 8 sentenced Swiss national Urs Fehr to one month in jail for assaulting Thai doctor Tharadao Chandam in Phuket in February 2024.
- The original case was dismissed by the Phuket Provincial Court due to lack of clear evidence, but the appeal was filed by Dr. Pai's lawyer Nipit Intarasombat, who accepted it without payment.
- The assault occurred on steps outside Fehr’s luxury villa near Yamu Beach, where Dr. Pai was sitting peacefully before being kicked, as shown in video footage that drew public attention.
- Nipit stated that Fehr was convicted under Article 391 of the Criminal Code—a serious charge—and received a one-month prison sentence without the option of suspension; however, Fehr failed to attend the sentencing and is believed to have escaped from Thailand.
