For these Eaton and Palisades fire survivors, Rose Parade trip down Colorado Blvd. will be no ordinary ride
The 55-foot float honors 31 wildfire victims and the resilience of over 13,000 displaced families, highlighting ongoing recovery challenges faced by survivors, organizers said.
- The Rising Together float, produced by Artistic Entertainment Services and co-sponsored by California Community Foundation and Black Freedom Fund, will represent wildfire survivors from Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Pasadena in the Rose Parade on January 1, 2026.
- Organizers say the project will catalyze healing through survivor participants and community volunteers, dedicating the float to the 31 victims of the Eaton and Palisades fires and more than 13,000 families who lost homes.
- The 55-foot-long float features a phoenix rising from floral elements, with California native plants and depictions of the San Gabriel Mountains plus coastal waves, built by AES employees in the AES Float Barn at the Rosemont Pavilion in Pasadena on Dec. 15, 2025.
- Families who lost homes, older adults, community volunteers and grassroots leaders will ride and walk with the float, joined by about a dozen representatives of more than 200 organizations along the 5.5 miles.
- Despite the tribute, philanthropy and research underscore persistent recovery needs and unequal impacts: California Community Foundation raised $100 million, distributed half including $30 million early, granted over $60 million in 2025, and Black Freedom Fund distributed $3.5 million, BFF said.
