Israel's Defense Ministry Opens First Ever Pavilion at Marrakech Airshow 2026
Eight Israeli defense companies showcased combat-proven technologies as Israel’s first official pavilion marked a new step in ties with Morocco.
On Thursday, Israel's Ministry of Defense inaugurated its first official national pavilion at the Marrakech Air Show, leading a delegation of eight Israeli defense companies to the biennial exhibition held at the Marrakech Royal Moroccan Air Force Base.
This participation aligns with IMOD strategy to increase defense cooperation, following the 2020 US-backed Abraham Accords and last month's agreement to upgrade diplomatic missions between Morocco and Israel to full embassies.
Eight Israeli companies exhibited "advanced, combat-proven technologies at the show," including loitering munitions, AI-powered robotic systems, and autonomous UAV navigation, with major firms like Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Elbit Systems, and IAI hosting individual booths.
Yair Kulas, head of the ministry's SIBAT office, called this debut a "milestone" for Israel's defense industry, noting that officials held meetings with international delegations in a region where Morocco spends over $6 billion annually on defense.
While France and other Western allies have recently limited Israeli participation due to Gaza war criticism, reports indicate Morocco has acquired systems like the Barak MX air defense, suggesting bilateral defense partnerships are deepening.
